Synthesis and Analysis of Antiviral Drugs
Bachelor and Master’s level students with interest in synthesis and biomedical evaluation studies are invited to contribute to improving our knowledge about the viral disease, hepatitis C. We aim to understand the mechanisms by which the current treatments function and design better drug delivery systems towards improving the treatment efficiency. Hepatitis C is a liver disease affecting over 170 million people worldwide. A persistent infection occurs in more than 70% of the infected people and if not treated, the viral infection cause inflammation of the liver eventually leading to fibrosis, cirrhosis and/or hepatocellular carcinoma. An effective treatment does not exist to date.
